Conservative Manifesto Pledge to support Overseas Territories
The Conservative Party election manifesto contains a strong pledge to protect the Overseas Territories. In a chapter entitled "Britain standing tall in the world", the manifesto emphasises in particular that a Conservative Government will "uphold the democratic rights of the people of Gibraltar and the Falkland Islands to remain British for as long as it is their wish and protect our Overseas Territories". The manifesto also includes strong commitments to defend the security and economic prosperity of the UK and its Overseas Territories.
