SS Great Britain 50th Anniversary Preparations
Stanley's Great Friend !
In 1970, the SS Great Britain was rescued from it's resting place in the Falkland Islands and traveled back to it's home in Bristol-with a little help!
Stanley the penguin and his friends will be celebrating 50 years since the ship's return. They will be joined by a real Albatross - who hasn't been named yet. Any ideas?
Don't worry, this Albatross was found dead of natural causes and has been lovingly prepared for its new flight by Steve Massam back in the Islands.
It hasn't set off yet so won't be there for when the exhibition opens on 4th April, but it will be a very special sight when it does fly in!
