Argentina versus England – 15 July 2026

After a well won semi-final match to win the 2026 World Cup on Wednesday 15 July 2026 the Argentine team chose to use the sport as a political arena. The Falkland Islands Government have released the following Press Statement:

Falklands in the UK posted “The Falklands are British, they remain British, they will continue to be British, and Falkland Islanders want to be British.” Thank you to Stephen Doughty MP for Cardiff South and Penarth, Minister for the Overseas Territories, for this defence of the Falkland Islands and our right to self-determination.
