New Rector appointed to the Falkland Islands

The Anglican Church authorities have just announced the appointment of the Revd. Canon David Roper as Rector of Christ Church Cathedral in Stanley. Currently, vicar of Holy Trinity, Broadstairs in the diocese of Canterbury, he was first ordained in 1995 and served in various parishes in the dioceses of Norwich and Canterbury. Prior to that, Canon David served in the RAF, visiting the Falklands in that capacity in 1987. He met his wife, Christine, whilst both were in the RAF and they have been married for 37 years.

Canon David replaces the Revd. Dr. Richard Hines who leaves with his wife, Jen, later this month after over 6 years’ of ministry in the Falkland Islands. Richard and Jen will both be sorely missed and the Association wishes them well in the future.
